Located in the heart of Binghamton at 46 S Washington St, Thirsty's Tavern is a quintessential bar & grill that perfectly balances comfort, flavor, and unbeatable value. This is not just another neighborhood watering hole; it’s a lively venue where classic bar vibes meet hearty, satisfying eats and an impressive tap selection, all at prices that feel like a friendly throwback to simpler times.
Stepping into Thirsty's, you immediately soak in its authentic sports bar atmosphere. The plank-top tables and unique barrel seating invite camaraderie and laid-back fun, while the full-length U-shaped bar is a beacon for beer lovers and cocktail aficionados alike. The bar pours with care—well-crafted cocktails and a diverse tap list ensure there is something to please every palate.
The menu is a delightful nod to classic American bar fare with flavorful and generous portions that keep guests coming back. Notable crowd-pleasers include the savory Philly Cheesesteak with its perfectly melted cheese paired with a refreshing mac salad, and the Triple Decker Club, stacked high with fresh ingredients that create a satisfying blend of textures and tastes. For those craving something lighter yet equally fulfilling, the Spiedie Salad and Chicken Breast Salad offer crisp freshness balanced with hearty protein.
But it’s not just the food that makes Thirsty's special—customers repeatedly highlight how affordable the experience is without skimping on quality. Joe’s comment captures it well: “Thirsty's delivers an acceptable dining experience on the CHEAP!” Meanwhile, Christopher Dipalmo raves about the standout Chicken Philly, calling it “the best Philly I’ve ever had,” which speaks volumes in a city where good sandwiches abound.
Service at Thirsty's carries a distinctly personal touch. Customers appreciate the attentive bartenders who often double as wait staff, creating an intimate, familiar feel. Andrew’s praise of the “fantastic service” and Molly’s observations about the attentive bartenders only underline the genuine customer care that sets this establishment apart. Even when some encounters aren’t perfect, as Tara Brady noted, you sense that Thirsty's staff are invested in getting it right and welcoming every guest warmly.
From classic hot dogs and gyros to a robust nacho platter and BBQ with mac salad, every dish is crafted to satisfy cravings after a day’s hustle or a spirited game night. The combination of salty, smoky, and fresh flavors paired with cold, well-poured beers make for an experience that’s as comforting as it is delicious.
For anyone visiting Binghamton or locals searching for a reliable spot where the food is hearty, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere encourages shared moments, Thirsty's Tavern hits all the marks. It’s more than just a bar & grill—it’s a welcoming gathering place where good times flow as freely as the beer.
Pretty good food at very fair prices. Nice tap selection & good prices. The bartenders over 30 are pretty good, but the young kid working today, not so much. He has an attitude that does not become a typical bartender. He actually ignored me when I asked for something. At least he has a job!
Thirsty's delivers an acceptable dining experience on the CHEAP! It had been a while since the last time we hit up Thirsty's for a meal so we decided to give it a shot on a Saturday evening. We visited between the hours of 5pm-7pm and the establishment was only slightly busy. The first thing that caught my eye is that the prices for everything seem to be stuck in 2009, and that is far from a complaint! $9 for a burger with chips, or $10.25 for a burger with fries is the lowest I have seen a burger priced in years. Most of the rest of the menu items at Thirsty's reflect this concept as well. We ordered a burger and a Philly cheese steak on this visit. Staff were friendly and quick to take our order. From the time of ordering to the time we received our fo od was between 10-15 mins which is on par with what is expected. The food arrived hot and was good, however not blowing anybody's socks off. For the cost of the food, this is perfectly acceptable. Overall, I would visit Thirsty's again for nothing other than the cheap food. It did the trick, was good, and certainly didn't break the bank.
Classic bar/sports bar atmosphere with great food at affordable prices. Well-poured cocktails. The bar tender may be your wait staff at the table, but that's ok, they are attentive! Just a personal note- if your mac salad has tuna in it, you should mention that.
Stopped in on 6/8.drinks were good and cheap.bartender was very friendly .I had a chicken philly for dinner that was the best philly I've ever had .definetly will return .
Good food and fantastic service. This is your good old fashioned bar, with plank top tables and barrels to sit at, as well as a full length U shaped bar.
I went in early evening and it was really nice there. Spacious. Talking was easy
